April Showers

The weather forecast in this area is calling for rain for the next 3 days. Looks like we will not see the sun again until Wednesday... UGH! I try not to get too upset when I hear this, because I know it really is a good thing for many reasons.
I know that my newly planted tomatoes plants will get a good start to take root in the ground

I know the grass will stay a beautiful lush green

I know my azaleas will get a good drink of water to help all the buds to burst open

I know the new growth on my spruce is a healthy sign that it is doing good

Even my Holly bush is loving the rain
So I just sit back and wait and watch all of nature being transformed by our friend..
RAIN !!!

Where I Wash my Clothes

Jan is our most gracious host this week and she has us talking some dirty laundry! Here is what she has us doing.

Everyone has laundry. Where do you do yours? Show us your Laundry room, or where you go to get those clothes clean! Photos, please.

My laundry area is a no frills, plain Jane, run of the mill..but serviceable section of my unfinished basement. I dust the cobwebs at least once or twice a year, depending on how active the spiders are. See the rug...it hasn't been vacuumed for months. I just don't think about it. One day I hope to at least paint the cinder block to make it look brighter...at least I do have a small over head window, so the natural light comes in. We thought about finishing the basement off...but it really would not get used. I would love to move my washer n dryer upstairs somewhere, but haven't figured out where to put them...maybe in our garage, that would take some work but it could be done. So for now, I travel two flights of stairs so I can have clean clothes..it's good exercise. Now go see where the rest of the group get their clothes clean...click here thanks for hosting Jan!

Why I love my Church

I have been attending St Davids UCC for going on five years now. My daughter Kelly (aka The Church Lady) is the church secretary. Her family is also a member there. The first time I walked into the sanctuary it was like a flash from my childhood. It reminded me so much of the small Methodist church that I grew up in. I had been looking for a church to join since I moved to Hanover Pa In 1999 and since I was Lutheran at the time, I was attending the many Lutheran churches in this town. Kelly and her family were also looking for a church to join. She is the one that found St Davids. I decided to attend a service there and I knew I found my church after the first visit. The congregation is so friendly and you feel welcome right away. But the most important person in the church is the Pastor, he is the one who has to deliver the sermons every week and keep them interesting, remember every ones name and do community work. He has to be there for everything from weddings, funerals, baptisms and special events. Pastor Scott is a hands on person and believe me he is everywhere. He really is everywhere...I don't know when this man finds time to sleep. He is at all the special events at the church and many times you will find him in the kitchen helping to clean up. The skating parties that are held for the kids, you will find Pastor Scott out there on the floor with his skates on racing with the best of them. The Church bowling league every Sunday night...yep he's there too. Oh and did I tell you he coaches several sports at the middle n high school and he is a volunteer fireman. Anyway...he's not only a good Pastor, but he is fun too!

Goodbye Winter

Its hard to think about winter right now when the temps here in this area of Pa. has been in the high 80's for the past three days...very unusual for April. We even had to turn our air conditioning on because of the high pollen count and the heat. Tomorrow will be back to normal temps and that is 56 for the high. This post is part of a fun Thematic photo challenge that I am participating in. If you would like to join in, go here to sign up and see some more "Goodbye winter photos.
