I Love my Grandpa!

When Holly comes over to our house she makes herself right at home. She knows where all the toys are and gets them out right away. Don't let her see you have food, she comes over to you like a little puppy and wont leave until you share with her. She is a great little eater (so far). Usually when she is here, Jer is on the computer, every now and then, Holly will go see what he is doing. The above picture is one of those times. Only this time, she laid her head on his lap and almost fell a sleep, it was such a sweet moment, I had to get the camera. She has her Grandpa wraped around her little finger!

We Have a "Biter"

Just look at that cute little face and pretty blue eyes! The picture of innocence! Don"t be fooled! This little toddler can take a chunk out of you in a flash! So far we have three bites to record, one on her Mom's leg and back, and she got Casey on the chest. These occurred when our little angel was "MAD". Holly is quite the little explorer, always getting into things, cant take your eyes off of her. I love to watch her discover her world, wish I had her energy (Oh to be young again!). She is a social butterfly, loves to be around people. What a blessing to our family!

Volunteering

I just want to say, Kudos to all you volunteers out there. Whether it be, helping at the schools, church, girls and boy scouts, brownies, youth groups, Local hospitals, humane society's, I commend you all! Jer and I have been doing "Meals on Wheel's" this week, its through the Hanover Council of Churches. I have to admit, we don't do this near enough, we have only been volunteering just once a year since we lived here (nine years). When we were in Florida for the winter, we did Meals on Wheels for the Daytona Beach area, the way they worked it down there was, you committed to one day a week. Our day was on Friday, that worked out well for us, we got to know the people we delivered to and it was such a gratifying experience. Both Jer and I have agreed that we need to do more for our community. We have pledged to get more involved with the council of churches and give more of our time to help other's that are less fortunate. Jer wants to get into mentoring for "The Changing Lives Shelter" he would counsel people on life's skills and how to interview for a job. I want to still do meals on wheels and go where ever they have a need for volunteers. If you want to be reminded of your many blessings! Go out and volunteer for those who are in need, it will keep you humble!

Autumn Has Arrived

What a beautiful day we are having. Since tomorrow is the first day of Fall, Jer and I went to Baughers Farm, its located in Westminster Md. We bought some apples, apple dumplings, apple butter, do you get the theme going on here??? Its a fun place to go especially if you have kids. You can take a hay ride out to the orchards to pick your own apples, they have a petting zoo and playground and the homemade ice cream is soooo delicious. On the way home we stopped at a house not to far from ours to buy pumpkins. This family owns a farm and every year they sell pumpkins in front of their house, its the best deal in town. Pumpkins are priced from a $1 to $4, they also sell, gourds, corn stalks and hay bales. Next we stopped and bought a Mum, came home and decorated the outside of our house. I just love this time of year, its kind of bittersweet because it marks the end of summer. The weather is so nice, warm days and cool nights. Guess we better enjoy it while we can, Old man winter is just around the corner!

Sunsets and Hummingbirds

I just learned how to upload pictures to my blog, thanks to Kelly! We also added a guest book, so please leave me a note or click on the comment section at the bottom of the page, I would love to hear from you. Getting back to the pictures! I just love humming birds, can't believe I've missed out on them all these years. All you have to do is hang a feeder filled with sugar water (1 part sugar 4 parts water) and wait for them to appear (it doesn't take long), they are attracted to the color red, so it helps to get a red feeder. Turns out we have a bunch of the little critters in our neighborhood. Once they come to the feeder, they just about claim it for themselves, the females will share for a while with the young, but let another adult visit, they get chased a way with a vengeance. Did you know they flap their little wings 80 times a second (a little trivia for you). They appear in the north around April and stay until early October, at least the "Ruby Throat ed" ones do. When we go down to Ga. this winter I am hoping to attract them there. The next picture is of the beautiful sunset we had last Sunday. I just had to get my camera and capture the beauty of nature. Seems the older I get the more I am enjoying Gods wonder around me. Things I took for granted (IE, sunsets, birds, flowers) now give me much pleasure. Guess I'm taking time to smell the roses or so the saying goes!

A Day of Up's and Down's

Yesterday Sept 16 was a day of ups and downs for me. It started out good at first, I left my house to drive into Baltimore to visit with my sister Barb. I arrived at her house at 10am, we exchanged B.day gifts to each other then we left to go visit our sister in law Laura. She is at Stella Maris in the Alzheimer's unit. Its always so heart rendering during these visits, Laura is still able to do for herself as far as dress, eat and bath, but she has trouble articulating a thought and remembering people, place and things. She does know my brother (her hubby) and my sister, but I don't think she remembers me. It breaks our family's heart to have her in this home, but we know she is being well cared for, something my brother no longer could handle. After our visit, Barb and I went to chick fila and had lunch, then we went to K-mart and I was able to find a car booster seat for my granddaughter Gabby(I had been looking all over). Bingo! I hit the jackpot, there it was, exactly what Gabby wanted, A Pink and Purple booster seat. I started my journey back home before rush hour traffic, just 10 minutes from my destination, the phone rang, it was Jerry, he had been having chest pains all day and his cardiologist told him to go to the ER. They admitted him and today they did a thallium stress test on him to see if he had any blockage in his heart. Good news! he was clear. I brought him home around 6:30pm. He still has to have some other health issues taken care of, but they are minor. So, as you can see, the day was up and down. It's funny how days can turn out that way. For the most part though, Jer and I know how blessed we are, there are lots of people out there that are dealing with much worst then we are.

Happy Birthday to Me

Wow! What a day it has been. To help me celebrate my B.day, my family and good friend Alice, met me at church. After the service we all went to Tray's for a delicious lunch of barbecue, salad, ranch potatoes, chips and cheese n crackers. Kelly baked a butter pecan cake for the 62 candles (just kidding) to go on. My friend Alice gave me one of her Hummals that she has collected over the years, its an angel holding a candle (I collect angels), she also gave me a bottle of Riesling wine, which we wasted no time getting into. Tray & Matt had a picture made of Gabs n Holly and they also gave me a bottle of wine, guess you figured out by now that I love my wine. Kelly,Hugh, Carley n Casey gave me a wallet and a tote umbrella to carry in my purse. This has been a wonderful Birthday weekend for me. Now that I am 62, I will start receiving my social security in Nov. I decided to take the money and run! This will come in handy to off set the high price of everything out there including my health insurance, that seems to go up at least 15% every year. (Don't get me started). Anyway, I am very grateful for the many blessings in my life and I thank God everyday. Jer has been a good sport and even went to church with us today, usually I only get him to go on Christmas and Easter, he's a good guy! Thanks again to Jer, Tray, Matt, Gabs, Holly, Kelly, Hugh, Carely, Casey and Alice for making my Birthday so special, I love you all!

Tea for Two

Hello family and friends. Just thought I would join the crowd and create my own blog! Please don't look to close, you may find a mistake or two. I suppose the more I post, the better I will get. This is a special weekend for me, its my 62 ND Birthday. Today, being Saturday, Jer and I went to "The Victorian Parlor" for a full afternoon tea. I highly recommend this place for all those Tea lovers out there. It is located in Spring Groove Pa. The food is fabulous and plenty of it (six courses), not to mention the lovely atmosphere and friendly service. Tonite, we are going to the "Hanover little theater" to see a musical (Forever Plaid). It takes place in the fifty's, so I know we will love the songs. Tomorrow we start the B.day celebration by attending church with my family and going to Tracy's home for lunch. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful caring family, who every year make my birthday so very special.
