Goodbye April, Welcome May

At least all these April showers did bring lots of flowers!!! All  9 inches of it!!! The rainiest April on record, here in my neck of the woods! The farmers are 3 weeks behind in planting their crops. The grounds are just too wet.  The forcast for next week is calling for more rain n cool temps!!! I have my vegetable plants ready  to go in the ground...but I am waiting until the second week in May! We got a light frost last night and I want to make sure all frost warnings are out of here! Looks like May is coming in wet n cold!!! :(

Lets Play Spud

           Hey everybody...who wants to learn how to play spud??? Its fun, easy and great excercise.

                       First you need a nice rubber playground ball.. next gather together as a group

Next one person throws the ball in the air, as soon as the ball is in the air, everyone runs...the person who threw the ball calls the name of one of the players.  That person has to get the ball, when they do, they call out "SPUD"...eveyone has to stop in their tracks. 

As soon as they get the ball......

                             That person takes steps to spell out the word SPUD. toward whoever they wish
                               to hit the ball with.

Next  they throw the ball n try to hit that person....IF..they do....that person gets S..if they miss that person the one who thew the ball gets S.  The object of the game is to spell the word spud...when you get spud, you are OUT!~   The last one left in the game is the winner.
This is one of my childhood games I played with all the neighborhood kids when I was growing up, we played mostly during the summer months.  I taught it to my girls  and now we are teaching the grans....they all love it and we play it everytime we get together during warm weather. Nothing like a simple game to bring such joy on the faces of the ones that are playing! It does my heart good!!!! Why don't you give it a try...bet you will have a blast!!!

My Favorite Biblical Movie

Todays Fun Monday assignment is all about Biblical stories, characters or movies.

Our most gracious host this week is Roger and here is what he has to say!

  I figured with us going through Holy week, why not go with a little religion, makes sense, right? So this week, I am looking for one of three answers (gotta give you choices). Please share with the group one of the following; your favorite book in the Bible, your favorite character in the Bible, or your favorite biblical based movie.

First of all I would like to say that Jesus is my favorite bible character...What a kind gentle man. God sent his only begotten son and his story is the greatest story ever told!  Being a Christian...I believe every word of it!
My favorite movie depicting Jesus is "The King of Kings"  Jeffrey Hunter plays Jesus and he is exactly how I imagined him to look at that time. Below is a clip of The Sermon on the Mount...Jesus is reciting the "Beatitudes" my favorite part!

Palm Sunday

On this day, the Church celebrates the triumphant entry of our Lord into Jerusalem; when the multitude, going before and following after Him, cut off branches from the trees and strewed them in His way, shouting “Hosanna (glory and praise) to the Son of David. Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord.” It is in commemoration of this triumph that palms are blessed and borne in solemn procession.

I love going to our Palm Sunday service at church...it is always an upbeat service to celebrate Jesus riding into jerusalem on a donkey with his followers. The children hand out palms to the congregation and the singing of the hyms is loud n joyful. As a Christian it is a reminder of what is to become.

A Walk Through The Swamp

Jer n I are down in Ga. for a short getaway and this past Thursday we decided to go to the Okefenokee
 National Wildlife Refuge. It's just an hours drive from our place here in Bunswick Ga.  We picked a perfect day to walk through the swamp and explore the vegetation n wild life that makes this place so special.  If you are into ecology, this is the place for you. The Okefenokee is a Federal perserved Park, it was established in 1936 to protect migratory bird habitat. The refuge is home to hundreds of plant and animal species. Come take a walk with me as I show you some of the things  that we saw.

This was the only water bird I saw...needless to say, I was a bit disappointed. Well I hope you enjoyed this mini tour of the Okefenokee Swamp (as I call it)!

Happy Birthday Brittny

Our Grand daughter Brittny turns 20 years old today..Yep thats right...she was a tax day baby..LOL  Here she is shown with me, Jer n grandson Chris.
Brittny  finishes her AA degree in December and moves on to UWF to finish up her Bachelors.
The years have flown by and we are so proud of the Beautiful young Lady Brittny has become.
