Fun Monday - Show and Tell --Jan is our most gracious hostess this week and here is her question.
What is the quirkiest thing in your home that you will never give away?
I wasn't sure if my selection fell under "Quirky" so I looked it up and here is what it said....
Deviating from the customary: bizarre, cranky, curious, eccentric, erratic, freakish, idiosyncratic, odd, outlandish, peculiar, quaint, queer, singular, strange, unnatural, unusual, weird. Slang kooky, screwball. British Slang rum, rummy2. See usual/unusual
I am going to say my Quirky item falls under the unusual category. At first I thought about my hubby, he fits most of the above definitions, but he didn't want his picture taken (believe me, he is a real trip to live with) so I picked ....my "Polly Pelican". She was a Birthday gift given to me from Jer in 1992. Polly was carved out of a solid piece of cypress. We had just bought a condo in Daytona Beach Fl and she was and still is part of my decor, only now she has a home here in Georgia sitting in our sun room. For a while I took her to our home in Pa., she sat out on our front porch from spring through fall, but somehow she just looked out of place being in the northeast. I think she will stay here for a while.
Thanks for hosting this week Jan, good topic! For more FM click here

The pelican is great. It's nice that he's moved around with you, but I'm sure he's happy now.
That pelican is right up my alley. Love it! It would go nicely on my deck. Much better than the giant wooden pelican my husband has been eyeballing at a local junk shop. I think it must have come out of a restaurant. It's huge.
Fabulous pelican! Heehee, I thought of my husband and pets as "quirky but definitely keepers" as well. I am with Polly here...I definitely feel out of place in the frozen Mid-Atlantic/northeast and am longing for milder climates!
I agree about your hubby being the most quirky thing in your home! But, I love Polly. She will always be in the family.
Hahaha ! that's really a funny pelican ! It must put you in a good mood each time you look at it !
Oh, I love Polly! We have a huge bear that is carved by chainsaw! Happy Monday!
Absolutely amazing!!!!
Now tell me, is the rope also carved wood? Or is that real rope? Wow....my husband is a wood carver and I MUST show him this!
♥ your post.
Oooo... I love that!
My husband suggested the same thing! Me, he said!!
Your pelican is beautiful as well as unusual!
Great choice!
I'll bet your husband was flattered that you think of him as "quirky." Seriously, most of us would love to be not so run of the mill. And you get to live with him! I can see why you would leave Polly Pelican in the south. How much fun to see a treasured memento when you change homes for the season.
Polly Pelican is so cute!
LOL! I love that definition, the one I found was much shorter and sweeter! But it definitely sounds like me anyway!
I also chose my husband the trick is you don't tell him just post away on the sneaky! Speaking of sneaky, how on earth do you expect us to sneak by when we are not supposed to be blogging and read your posts? My hubby has busted me several times when I was supposed to be working as the music blasts out all of a sudden. Woops!
Love it though, I was singing along to the Tide is High. Have a great day!
ah, the pelican, the pelican, the pelican. It's beak can hold more than it's belly can.
I love the pelican I think it fits the 'quirky' element perfectly. It reminds me of all the pelicans we saw when we visited Florida.
I love her! Sounds like she fits right in. :)
I rather like your pelican, A sun room in Georgia seems like a perfect home for Polly.
Oh, Polly is cool. I have a pig that falls in the same category. For some reason when I was a kid someone thought I would like a ceramic pig. Then everyone else thought I was collecting them. I ended up with a lot of them. I still have some that I couldn't part with, one being from China that my Dad brought back for me. :) It has made every move I have and always will. :)
Thanks for sharing!
Oh this is going to my old blog... but the newer one is anotherchanceranch.typepad.com
