Friday's Fences ~ # 86

  These flowers are what attracted me for this shot!!!  Anyone know what they are???  Lucky for me there was a fence in the background!

Those flowers would have caught my eye as well. They are not a flower native to Texas so I cannot help you. Some sort of weed. Great accent to the fence.

okay, i googled 'red and yellow spike flower' and hit it right away. this is the description that i got:

kniphofia royal? what a mouthful!

Thanks for the linky party! This week I chose a woven wire fence on our farm. It was put up to create a 18 x 70 dog pen, but we left the dogs in it only once. (I think it was separation anxiety - on my part LOL) We may use it for chickens this summer.

Great photo. I have never seen Kniphofia growing wild before. Are they a native species over there or escapees from a garden.

Red hot pokers! We have loads in the garden, very easy to grow- split them in the Spring and you have lots of plants. The sparrows love the seeds!
