School Chums

FUN MONDAY

Wendy is our hostess this week and she wants us to tell about our school friends.

What memories do

you have of your school years at any stage of your education?
Did you keep in touch with your friends who were there with you in your formative years, or perhaps you lost touch as I did and are finding them again? Tell us about some of your school friends.

I have been so blessed to have a group of High School girlfriends that still get together at least two times a year.
Our little group graduated in 1964 n 1965, we celebrated our weddings, birth of babies, divorce and yes...even death...One of our beloved girlfriends passed away several years ago. I did a post about our little group last year in memory of Joan!
When we get together with the hubby's it's quite the crowd, 14 us all. We used to have parties at our homes and boy were they wild, this group loved to drink, smoke n dance. Oh those were the days...lots of laughter. Now 40 some years later, we still laugh but have cut back on the drinks, smokes and dances. The Golden years have set in and now our conversation usually is around some kind of health problem or gran kids. The girls now meet for lunch and love to reminisce about the good old days. Below is our little group then n now.

I have known Barb since her birth...I was two years old, she lived across the street from me...We have stayed in touch all these years and she also is part of our group. Another one of my high school friends is also a big part of my life and I get to see her more since she lives closer to me. Alice n I met in 10th grade, didn't see each other for years after graduation and got back together again in the early 80's and remain very close. My girls call her Auntie, she is like part of our family. So I realize how very blessed I am to have so many lifetime girlfriends. Thanks for hosting this week Wendy it was fun to take a walk down memory lane.

You will always have that special bond with this group of gals even though you all don't get together as much. They are alot of fun!

You've always lived close enough for all of you to get toghter on a regular basis? That's amazing in this day and time--or a testament to great friendships if you have to drive to get together. I can only remember one high school gal pal other than my cousin. And you're right about the conversations Jan. When my friends get together we re-hash the same old things but have a grand time doing it.

How fortunate to have so many friends with whom to celebrate your lasting friendship.
Long may it continue!

You are so lucky to have found your friends so early in life. Some of us kind of flounder around for a long time before making long-time friends. I was one of those.

Love the pictures!

This is just wonderful. The friends I made 40 years ago, have either moved to other countries in we write to each other once a year at Christmas and the others I don't see so much anymore because our interests are so different. I like to go with the future and have left the past behind, they are still living in the past and talk about the good old times ! They don't understand what I am doing and why it keeps me busy and what I say or try to explain they don't understand. So I have new friends since 5 years. But I keep the contact with the old once.

Jan, you certainly are blessed to have kept up with them all for all these years as I'm sure they feel blessed to have you in their lives still. I loved the 'then' and 'now' photo, just beautiful.

I was sorry to hear that one of the group has since passed away, that must have shaken you all up!!

thanks for playing this week and I've finally posted mine.

How fun for you! Over the last two years I have been re-connecting with different friend groups. My Meandering blog was started to reach out to some 70's friends (except they don't blog:( -- we will be having a reunion with the 15 of us this July, after 38 years. Can't wait!

Memories and friends are two of life's greatest treasures. Just found a quote I really like, "May you live all the days of your life." Jonathan Swift
