Road Trip Adventure part 2

OK, so continued from Road trip part 1, you know the one where we ran out of gas on I-95 south. We were on our way to Ga/Fl. Here is the update on the trip back to Pa. All was going great until we reached Petersburg Va..... Since we were traveling on a weekday, Jer and I thought we were being so smart in leaving Ga at 4am in the morning, that would get us to the Washington DC area around 2pm, thinking we would breeze through DC before the rush hour traffic....NOT! How naive can we get! We ran into rain in Va and it just got worse the further north we traveled. There were fender benders all over the place and bumper to bumper traffic until we arrived home (two extra hours later) It is always so stressful coming through that area, people drive like maniacs, the rain made it 10 times worst. I think we learned our lesson, from now on when traveling back n forth on I -95 it will be on the weekends.

OMG...tell me about it. I-495 and 95 are the main reasons why I only see my Virginia-dwelling parents a couple times a year. Those roads can be a mess on sunny days, and on rainy days they're a parking lot. Sorry to hear you had to deal with that. Glad you are home!

Ugh. That happened to us once coming back from visiting my parents in VA. Talk about miserable! And we had two impatient kids in the car too!

At least you are retired and not on any kind of time restrain. Glad you made it back to PA safely - those roads are trecherous!

I hate driving in that kind of weather, especially on busy highways. I find it stressful and not very vacation-like at all.

It does make for a stressful ride when weather conditions are poor. It was a relief to see your home phone calling to give us an update, not your cell #.

Yup...that traffic looks about right. We've had rain 12 of the last 17 days. They're calling for more tonight AND 3 of the next 4 days.
