My Hopes for the New Year

FUN MONDAY

Mariposa , our friend in the Philippines is this weeks hostess. She wants to know what we are looking forward to in this new year...it can be a special event or date or whatever!

This year my hopes are to maintain my weight loss. Yep that's right guys...I have been successful in losing 20lbs since march of 2009. Of course it helps to have a partner to cheer you on and that person is none other then "The Church Lady" she joined weight watchers and has lost a whopping 50lbs. How I lost mine was just simple little steps. First of all I cut out one glass of wine, all cheese and started eating a very high fiber food intake. I use ground flax seed on my bran cereal every morning and only eat whole grain foods that have at least 3grams of fiber or more. Lots of fruit n veggies also. I walk just 5 extra minutes on the treadmill and do strength training 3 times a week. On my off days...I either walk on my treadmill at home or walk around my neighborhood. I have been able to reduce my bad cholesterol and lower my BP. I try to remember.."calories in..calories out" it is essential to exercise if you want to lose weight and feel good. Its such a simple formula and everyone can do it. My goal is to still drop another 10lbs and I am taking it off one pound at a time. And guess what!!! I feel great!!! Lots of energy!
Also looking forward to enjoying a somewhat warmer winter here in the Southeast united states. We are so lucky to be able to have a winter get away. To escape the frigid temps in Pa. right now is a big plus. We plan on getting together with some of our friends who live in Florida, they have a place in Daytona Beach and we meet there. Its just a three hour drive from here. Everyday is a new adventure and its all in what you make of it...we count our many blessings and are happy to embrace what ever comes our way. Life is good...Thanks be to God!
Thanks for hosting this week Mariposa...now go take a look at what everyone else is looking forward to.

Yep, looking forward to looking our "best" is a huge deal for us this year! I am equally as proud of you for your efforts in losing some pounds. And just think, you didn't have to pay out a dime! My weight loss cost me some money, but it was well worth every penny thanks to Weight Watchers.

your link is wrong on Mr Linky -- but I found you anyway.
Then you had to go and make me feel guilty as I gained weight (on weight) over the holidays.

If I had someone close to diet and exercise with it would be super.

Ooooh! Go to Florida!! Think of the seafood!!
Ooops...no, don't think of the food.
Think of the salt air and sunsets!!!
Keep going with the weight maintenance. I'll bet you feel and look great!

I'm glad for you, due to circumstances beyond my control, all my weight has come back on. Now that my hernia has healed, perhaps I can get back to more normal again. I walked and walked and walked all summer and fall and the weight just kept piling on....sigh. Very glad for you though!

I'm doing a serious weight loss thing this year myself! Congratulations on yours.

Florida's not so warm right now - we may have snow on thursday!

Finally got mine up!

Congrats and keep up the good job! I'm sure you can do it. I also read that B Complex increases metabolism, you also check that out. :)

Thanks for playing. Have a great week!

You are a lucky duck being in a warmer climate right now. It is just RAW here. I know you and the Church Lady will be successful with keeping those pounds off. You both look great!

Sounds like you are on the right track -- keep it up! Friends make the difference. iIt would be so much harder to go to the gym or stay there if I didn't have a gym buddy to talk to.

I'm trying to figure out how to increase my bone mass without taking a Rx for the next 30 years:(
