I remember while at Ohio State U. there was a rumor that the ivy held up the walls of some of the old buildings. Later when the vines were removed, sure enough, the walls began to crumble. The roots of the vines had destroyed the mortar holding the bricks in place.

MY goodness, it appears that you have been visiting with my brother. He has what appears to be these same silo's on his place.
I have photographed them many times but don't think I have ever used the shots on my blog.

Neat greens growing up the sides of the silo.
Oh. Wow. My imagination just kicked into overdrive!!!!!!!
That tower looks like it is being swallowed by the shrubbery! That is so cool!
The vines, the sky--they make this old silo look so romatic--really could be a fairy tale tower!
Wow, that's awesome! Love those vines!
OMG...I think I see Rapunzel now!! Looks like the barn could use a little weed killer. The skies are a beautiful background
I love silos almost as much as barns! So wonderful with the green growing up its sides. Great shot!
Oh, I love fairy tales and this looks like a perfect Rapunzel setting!
Beautiful shot! What a great silo. It does look like it could be Rapunzel's tower.
It could be very mysterious on the right evening -- lovely!
