Begun as a ritual of remembrance and reconciliation after the Civil War, by the early 20th century, Memorial Day was an occasion for more general expressions of memory, as ordinary people visited the graves of their deceased relatives, whether they had served in the military or not. It also became a long weekend increasingly devoted to shopping, family get-togethers, fireworks, trips to the beach.

Discus Anyone

 

My oldest Grand daughter Carley participated in Track n Field last year and again this year.Her choice was shot put and discus.

Her best distance in the discus was...55ft 11inches...she made the A..team!

Great job Carley and great form too!!!

                  The coach tells the girls what a great job they did...I agree...it was a fun game to watch!
                       I was very surprised how good the girls played since they are just learning the game!

Barn Charm

This Barn is located in Manchester Maryland.  I can't tell you how many times I have driven by this and everytime, I say I want to get a shot of this barn.   Finally on saturday I made my hubby pull over on the side of the road so I could capture this charmer! Its part of a Christmas tree farm and has been around for a long long time.

Well,  I pick  my two grown Daughters.  They not only gave  me much joy (most of the time) while growing up, they now have kids of their own!(pay back time).   I consider these two lovely Ladies not only my daughters but my friends. We have so much fun spending time together and I thank God for them everyday!
