I was so excited to get this shot. Our neighbor across the street has a koi pond and this Blue Heron is a regular visitor. Easy prey...at least it was... until netting was placed over the pond to protect the fish. He had just landed at the pond and I ran and got my camera...right when I was about to take his picture...he was spooked and flew away, I just started shooting and this is what I came up with! I cropped it to get a closer look!

Wow - I think this is a great shot!! Poor Koi - glad they are protected now. I would have never thought a Blue Heron would come so close.
Nice...they are easily spooked and difficult to sneak up on!
That is fantastic for a spur of the moment shot!

WOW! That's a great shot. Lucky you! There is a blue heron that hangs out around my brother's pond. I have tried sneaking up from every direction, but can't get him. He's too smart for me.
In response to your question. Yes, that's the real name. They are wildflowers that grow in the edge of the woods.
A magnificent in-flight shot. I have a little sister who is especially fascinated with herons flying. Hope the heron finds another place for fine dining on seafood.
OH WOW! I would be excited too!
