Shoot me 14 of 52
There is nothing like having old friends who take the time to come and visit. Thom n Karen have been our friends since 1989. We all lived in Orlando Florida at the time and my Hubby Jer and Thom worked together. It was always a good time when we hung out with this couple. Through the years we lost touch, but last week we received a phone call and it was them. They retired, bought a 36 foot RV and have been traveling around the country. After being in Maine since June, they were ready to move on...since we were on the way to their next destination they stopped in for a visit. We went out to dinner and had several wonderful hours catching up with each others lives.

The Girlfriends..shoot me 13 of 52

This past weekend my girlfriend Joyce had a cookout with all the girlfriends n their spouses. It was a great time and so good to see everyone. As our group has gotten older...it gets harder for us all to get together. Most of us are grandparents now and time spent with the little ones take priority over time with each other. We do however take time to get together at least twice a year.

My Favorite Lake

We spend a lot of time on the lake that is 6 miles from our house...it is so peaceful and relaxing and has lots of photo ops! These geese loved the potato chips we were throwing out to them.
We dropped the anchor and got out to wade around in the water...see my grandaughter to the left of the photo.

Come visit the Round Barn
This past Saturday was a crazy kind of weather day...it rained all morning then turned into a fine mist in the early afternoon. Jer n I decided to get out of the house and take a ride up to Arndstville Pa. It's a beautiful drive through country roads and just about 45 minutes from our house. This is also the home of the Historic Round Barn. What a neat place to visit...they sell all kinds of produce, flowers, homemade jellies and gift items.

We climbed the narrow winding steps to the second floor. What an amazing structure as you can see.

If walls could talk...bet this barn hid many a Civil war soldier.

How can you not take a photo of the cute little goats they had in a pen outside.

This is an interesting statue... the horse is named Spirit and it represents all the states who fought in the Civil War. There are nineteen blue stars representing the Union states and twelve gray stars that represents the Confederate states. Within each star are the number of casualties from each state.

Frugal Tips on Staying Cool in a Heat Wave
Just thought I would share a few of my secrets on staying cool while saving money this summer! First of all go to the nearest snowball/ice cream stand.(we have one just around the corner from our house)!
Next...purchase the snowballs...but don't let the kids have them until you take a photo of them..see that chocolate one...that's mine! Eat the snowballs at the picnic area so you can just leave the mess of the spilt snowball juice there.(the ants n bees will take care of the cleanup)
