My New Toy

After much research and talking myself into it...I graduated to a DSLR camera. It was between a Canon Rebel XS or the Nikon D3000 and you can see the winner. My point n shoot Canon did me well for the past year and I think I got some pretty good shots with it. But now I am ready to take it a little further...I want to learn n experiment with getting off the green square and auto feature. There is so much more to getting a great photo and I am ready to learn. So far I have been having fun testing out my new toy. I am looking forward to expanding my horizons.. Stay tuned for the fruits of my labor...haha! This is the perfect time of year to look for photo ops.

Yay Spring is Here

The warmth of the past few days have been so wonderful. Just to sit outside and enjoy the Sun has been like heaven...the memories of the harsh winter we had to endure is fading fast. I do have a feeling though that its not going to last...April will probably be freezing. So enjoy this warm spell as much as you can.

HAPPY SAINT PATRICKS DAY!

The history of St. Patrick's Day

This is the celebration of Ireland's most known patron saint, Saint Patrick. Patrick became a bishop after escaping from being a slave. He set out to save both the rich and the poor. He used the shamrock three leaf clover to teach about the holy trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He died on March, 17 461 and was named as a saint by the Catholic Church

Lunchtime Memories

This weeks hostess is our good friend Faye and here is what she has to say....
your assignment for March 15 is to share your memories of school lunches. What kind of school did you attend--public, private, parochial? Did you bring lunch from home or buy in the school cafeteria? What did your lunch look like? Who prepared it? Who did you have lunch with? Was this a happy part of the school day? What did you do during lunch time other than eat your PB & J sandwich?
Well Faye you are really making me jog my memory in going back to my elementary school daze! I attended a small public school which had grades K-5. There was no cafeteria so we ate lunch in our classroom at our desk. Most of my lunches was PB n J or bologna n cheese sandwiches n cookies or fruit or sometimes I would take soup in my thermos in my lunch box. We could buy milk.. white was 5 cents n chocolate was 10 cents. My Mom made sure my lunch was packed every morning before she went to work. When I started Jr High, that is when I started to buy lunches, that school had a cafeteria. I would buy lunch a few times a week and pack the rest. One time I bought the hot lunch and it had a dead fly in it...well that was the last time I bought lunch for long long time. Enter high school...most of the time I packed because I hated the food served in the cafeteria...as a matter of fact it was my "Pet Peeve" in my senior profile in my yearbook. If I remember correctly...the lunches cost 35cents at the time...If my Mom left us money to buy lunch, I would buy ice cream. Of course lunch time was always the best part of the school day for me (besides going home) I always had a group of friends to sit with and play with outside in the school yard. Things have really changed in schools now...there are vending machines with sodas and junk food for the kids to buy...and we wonder why we have an obesity problem in this country. Thanks for hosting Faye. Now go on over here to see what the others have to say about their lunch time memories

Are We Crazy

Well folks...you will probably think we are crazy...but...we are going from cold to colder. It is sad to say that we have to cut our wintering in the south short by one month. Jer has developed some pain in his back n leg and has to see his Doctors in Pa. The weather here in Ga. has been below norm temps for this time of year 50's for the high n 20's for the low...it should be high 60's n low 40's. Of course we felt fortunate to have escaped the two big nor'easters that dumped four feet of snow on our little town of Hanover Pa. It is just starting to warm up a bit here and we really do hate to leave Ga. but we gotta do what we gotta do. I understand the big mounds of snow are slowly melting in Pa. and maybe there will be no more snow fall in the forecast. We are heading out today....so we are praying for good travel weather and maybe an early spring for the frozen north! See u next year beach n sand n ocean...sigh:(

Pay it Forward

Last month I signed up for a Pay it Forward meme...sponsored my one of my blogging buddies Jan . I was one of the lucky winners...today I received my beautiful hand made gift.. (in photo above). It was a surprise to me for I had forgotten all about it. So now it is my turn to Pay it Forward...here are the rules...Good luck my friends!

"The first three people to leave a comment will be my the Pay It Forward recipients. You must have a blog so I can read your postings and learn a little about you. That way, I will know what to send just for you! THEN, when you receive your package from me, you post pictures of what you received, just as I have done, and wait for three comments on your blog...and the game continues on. If there are any questions you can ask me anytime! It really is a whole lot of fun! Let's see how far this PAY IT FORWARD can continue."

School Chums

FUN MONDAY

Wendy is our hostess this week and she wants us to tell about our school friends.

What memories do

you have of your school years at any stage of your education?
Did you keep in touch with your friends who were there with you in your formative years, or perhaps you lost touch as I did and are finding them again? Tell us about some of your school friends.

I have been so blessed to have a group of High School girlfriends that still get together at least two times a year.
Our little group graduated in 1964 n 1965, we celebrated our weddings, birth of babies, divorce and yes...even death...One of our beloved girlfriends passed away several years ago. I did a post about our little group last year in memory of Joan!
When we get together with the hubby's it's quite the crowd, 14 us all. We used to have parties at our homes and boy were they wild, this group loved to drink, smoke n dance. Oh those were the days...lots of laughter. Now 40 some years later, we still laugh but have cut back on the drinks, smokes and dances. The Golden years have set in and now our conversation usually is around some kind of health problem or gran kids. The girls now meet for lunch and love to reminisce about the good old days. Below is our little group then n now.

2010 left to right...Marie,Lori,Me,Pat, Barb n Joyce

I have known Barb since her birth...I was two years old, she lived across the street from me...We have stayed in touch all these years and she also is part of our group. Another one of my high school friends is also a big part of my life and I get to see her more since she lives closer to me. Alice n I met in 10th grade, didn't see each other for years after graduation and got back together again in the early 80's and remain very close. My girls call her Auntie, she is like part of our family. So I realize how very blessed I am to have so many lifetime girlfriends. Thanks for hosting this week Wendy it was fun to take a walk down memory lane.
