The Worlds Most famous Beach

Two weeks ago we had a little weekend getaway to Daytona Beach Florida. It felt good to be back. After having a place there for 13 years, it almost felt like we were home again. The Beach remains the same...cars cruising up n down to find the perfect spot to park. Its fun to ride on the beach, you can get right up to the water (if you dare). We have seen many a car get stuck and have to be pulled out by the beach patrol. One big Jelly fish
It was a perfect day to be a beachcomer

Under the Broadwalk...out of the sun...under the broadwalk people walking above..lalalala

Churches of St Simons Island Ga.

I love to go over on St Simon's Island and explore. One thing I love to see is the many churches they have. These are just a few of many. Each one has its own unique architecture. This is a more modern Presbyterian Church
John Wesley founded this Methodist church in the early 1800's

This photo is a continuation of my wordless wed. photo...below is the history of this very old beautiful church.

Step Into My Favorite Room

I am the hostess this week and the challenge was to show us your favorite room and tell us why!
Please join me while I take you on a tour of my favorite room. We are wintering at our villa in Brunswick Ga. and the Sun room is where I love to spend my time. As a matter of fact...if I could...I would take this room back to our home in Pa. and attach it onto the back of my house. This room is so bright n warm as the sun shines in for most of the morning hours.
It is so peaceful here...to sit n read, eat lunch, listen to music or just gaze out the window.

The birds have not found the feeder yet...last year we had the most beautiful cardinal come and visit. I added a hummingbird feeder and am keeping a steady watch and hoping we can attract some. The temps are now in the 60's during the day so I keep my fingers crossed that soon they will appear.

Take a close look through the door and you will see a lake within our view. Even though its through a fence, we can still see the birds that come to fish. We are lucky that we have privacy and such a quiet setting. I thought about putting up blinds...but I am not in any hurry.

Scan down to the next post for the list of players.. so you can go see their favorite room. Thanks for playing...We need a host for next week....let me know if you are interested!

Big Birds

I am always so thrilled when I can witness these awesome birds. They like to hang out in a canal or as the locals call it..a lagoon, on the way out of our complex. These photos were taken through my car window two days ago.

Its All About Cars

Sayre is hosting this week and this is her challenge ..................
I want to know your car history. What was your first car? Which was your favorite car? And what are you driving now - and why?

Jeez...I had to put on my thinking cap to remember my first car...or the first car I ever drove. I was 20 years old when I got my drivers license back in 1968. The first car I owned was a 62 Chevy Impala. It was white with blue interior. It had its share of problems...like dead batteries, engine problems and all the stuff that comes with improper maintenance..I knew nothing of how to take good care of a car. Through the years it was a string of used cars as that was all the budget would allow. The first brand new car I owned was a 1980 Pontiac Grand Prix...it was a two tone gray and boy was it a good looking car...I thought I died an went to heaven. Along comes 1988 and I was once again a single woman...it was time for me to make a statement....I bought me a 1988 Chrysler Le Baron...it was bright Red...was I ever the cats meow...and did I ever make a statement...after two speeding tickets I realized that red cars are targeted for speeding. Along comes 1995 and time to change over to a Japanese made car...let me introduce you to my brand new beige Nissan Sentra. This car shows my maturity....I now own a four door sedan that would soon become known as "The Granny Mobile" this was a great running little car and was very reliable, it was easy to keep clean too after hauling around little rug rats! I swore I would never go back to American made vehicles. Enter 2005, my Granny mobile was getting up in age and my air compressor went up...so it was once again time for a new car.... I stayed with made in Japan brand and bought a 2005 Toyota Corolla, this time I picked a silver color with gray interior. I have to say...this has been one of the best cars I have owned to date....it sits up higher, is compact and easy in n out, has lots of room for four or five passengers, and best of all it gets 35 mpg on the highway which is a big savings on today's gas prices! So there is my history of cars....I am really not a big car fan...so I had to ask my hubby the names of some previous ones. If it gets me to where I am going..that is all I care about. Looks really don't enter into it. AS you can see...I've come a long way baby!

A little humor for all you Seniors out there

Senior health care solution--according to Maxine

Senior Health Care Solution

So you're a senior citizen and the government says no health care for you, what do you do?

Our plan gives anyone 65 years or older a gun and 4 bullets. You're are allowed to shoot 2 senators and 2 representatives. Of course, this means you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head, and all the health care you need!

New teeth, no problem. Need glasses, great. New hip, knees, kidney, lungs, heart? All covered.

And who will be paying for all of this? The same government that just told you that you are too old for health care. Plus, because you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income taxes anymore.

IS THIS A GREAT COUNTRY OR WHAT?!

My Hopes for the New Year

FUN MONDAY

Mariposa , our friend in the Philippines is this weeks hostess. She wants to know what we are looking forward to in this new year...it can be a special event or date or whatever!

This year my hopes are to maintain my weight loss. Yep that's right guys...I have been successful in losing 20lbs since march of 2009. Of course it helps to have a partner to cheer you on and that person is none other then "The Church Lady" she joined weight watchers and has lost a whopping 50lbs. How I lost mine was just simple little steps. First of all I cut out one glass of wine, all cheese and started eating a very high fiber food intake. I use ground flax seed on my bran cereal every morning and only eat whole grain foods that have at least 3grams of fiber or more. Lots of fruit n veggies also. I walk just 5 extra minutes on the treadmill and do strength training 3 times a week. On my off days...I either walk on my treadmill at home or walk around my neighborhood. I have been able to reduce my bad cholesterol and lower my BP. I try to remember.."calories in..calories out" it is essential to exercise if you want to lose weight and feel good. Its such a simple formula and everyone can do it. My goal is to still drop another 10lbs and I am taking it off one pound at a time. And guess what!!! I feel great!!! Lots of energy!
Also looking forward to enjoying a somewhat warmer winter here in the Southeast united states. We are so lucky to be able to have a winter get away. To escape the frigid temps in Pa. right now is a big plus. We plan on getting together with some of our friends who live in Florida, they have a place in Daytona Beach and we meet there. Its just a three hour drive from here. Everyday is a new adventure and its all in what you make of it...we count our many blessings and are happy to embrace what ever comes our way. Life is good...Thanks be to God!
Thanks for hosting this week Mariposa...now go take a look at what everyone else is looking forward to.
