A new Visitor at the Bird Bath

Imagine my excitement as I gazed upon a brand new visitor at our bird bath. I quick ran and got my point n shoot because it has a longer zoom on it. Its a little blurry but I was still thrilled to have captured it.

Welcome Northern Flicker! (in the woodpecker family)

Oh! I love flickers! We don't get them down here, but when I lived in Oklahoma they were everywhere. Those and meadowlarks and scissor-tailed flycatchers. I miss those avian friends!

My he's handsome. Love his chest.

Just wait until he wakes you at sunrise. Oh yeah, he can peck as loud as any woodpecker. And for some reason they love to get under the eaves of your house and bang away.

That is a pretty bird. I think we may have a pair that live in the wooded area on the side of our house.

What a delight to see a new friend! I wonder if he will become a frequent visitor.

What a good looking bird. I do love flickers. We used to have them in our yard in Oregon occasionally, but not at the feeders. Mostly I see them when hiking out in woodsy areas. --

How exciting! We've had one in our neighborhood but I haven't been able to get this close yet. :)
