RAK Part 1 n 2

Scan down to bottom for Pt.2
JILL is our fun hostess this week...and since this is RAK..(Random Act of kindness ) week..she has challenged us in two parts. This is part 1
For February 15th, please tell about something nice someone has done for you, or an act of kindness you witnessed a loved one perform, without being asked. It can be lately, or years ago, but something that touched your heart, and that you remember for that reason. Feel free to tell several stories if you wish, but remember, this is not YOUR RAK, it’s one that was performed for you or in your presence .

We were very lucky...to be on the receiving end of an RAK that was just two months ago!
Just 10 days before Christmas...our area in Hanover Pa. got 16 inches of snow dumped on us. I am the one who usually does the shoveling since my hubby had a heart attack back in 1996. When the snow had stopped...I knew I had a lot of work cut out for me , since our driveway is 20ft wide n 50ft long. After going out and shoveling for about an hour..I came in to rest a little and the phone rang..Praise the Lord...it was my Daughter "The Church Lady" telling me that her hubby was coming over in an hour with his snow blower to dig us out! What a life saver he was that day...This is not the first time our SIL has come to our rescue.. two weeks ago my daughter went to check on our house for us(since we are wintering in the south) and our furnace was not working right...welllll SIL went over n resolved the problem. We are so very blessed to have such nice SIL's (our other SIL has done yard work for us also)! How lucky can we B!
SIL hard at work

The Curch Lady helped also

I might add that both of my lovely Daughters are always there for us and give of their time to help us out without being asked! Stayed tuned for "RAK part 2 next monday. Thanks for hosting Jill. Now go see the list to read about all the other RAK's

Part 2 ---Feb 22, 2010

This week we are suppose to tell about a RAK that we performed. Let me see...I try to live by the "Golden Rule"...do unto others, so most of the time my RAK's are small acts. It could be letting someone out into a line of traffic, or opening a door or even just saying hello to someone to brighten their day. One RAK I did was leave the cashier an extra $5 dollars to pay for the next person at the register at one of our favorite resturants. I stood back and watched to see the expression on an elderly womans face and it warmed my heart. If all people made the Golden Rule part of their daily lives...wouldn't this world be such a better place!!!!

Just curious--did SIL have the snow blower before this year? Any way you look at it, it's probably paying for itself by now with just this year's work. I'll bet you can rest a lot easierJanis when you're wintering in the south to know that your home is being looked after. The family that shovels together stays together!

I well remember what shoveling snow was like - your SIL was definitely a hero for coming over and taking care of that for you!

That snower blower is an amazing piece of kit! 'Himself' commented when I showed him your pictures.

Thankfully we rarely get much if any snow here in NW England where it's milder than the SE around London.

Thank you for sharing.

you are certainly blessed!

Our neighbors snow blower sat idle this year. Not that i'm complaining.

I definitely agree that we should all make it a regular part of our life, and I too live by the Golden Rule.

Too bad there aren't more people like you out there. Holding the door seems to be a lost art, just like saying please and thank you.

Jan, you've got such a beautiful family who help you out like that. I agree with you on the "Golden Rule", I was raised well and I still live by it.
