The Church Lady who happens to be my lovely Daughter, is our gracious host this week...here is her challenge...
How do you beat the doldrums when you are stuck in the house either because it is too cold or too hot outside? Do you read? Cook? Complete a home improvement project? Watch movies? Scrapbook? Please share your ideas
Boy do I ever hate the winter months....being cooped up the house drives me up a wall. I try to get out each day for a few hours and that does help...but lots of times its bad weather like rain or snow or blustery wind. Those are the days I love to get into my creative mode and work on my current scrapbook, which is our vacations for the past 3 years. I set up all my equipment so its right at my finger tips. It may take an hour to do one page depending on how detailed I want it to be. (sorry for the grainy photos...had the wrong setting on my camera)
When I am not scrapbooking...I am curled up with a good book...below are the two latest ones I have read. The Timekeeper is a moving story about a young boy who was labled stupid and overcame his learning disabilities. The next book I won from one of our fellow blogger's Jan... This book is also about a young boy with Autism who forms a special bond with a goldern retriever.
So thats how I beat the winter blues...go see what the others do.click here. Thanks again for hosting Kelly!

Scrapbooking! I've never tried it, am not at all artistic, but have seen one done by a friend. You are talented.
Thanks for sharing.
I'm going to look out for the books you mentioned. Years ago I read one called 'For the love of Ann' about an autistic girl who was born the same year and month as me.
I think curling up with a good book is a marvelous way to spend time... I wish I could do more of it - but if I'm doing that, the guys in my house think I'm not doing anything. So much for peace. I think that's why my cure for the doldrums is so active.
Fun! I used to scrapbook a lot and then I started focusing more on the pictures. I like to read too, but have not had a chance lately ;0)
Did you notice that we both started our post with the word, "Boy". We are just too much alike!
I wish I had more time to scrapbook. I love the hobby, but it seems to have taken the back burner these days.
You are right ! we have the same way of life, only I don't do scrap booking. But we have the same philosophy ! Retirement is great !!
I don't know what happens, when I click on your name in my comments it takes me to this page : http://lifeaccordingtojanandjer.blogspto.com/ which shows a page with sponsored listings and has nothing to do with your blog. I had to go to the church lady and get your link from McLincky. There is something wrong.
I can see where Kelly gets her talent!!
I tried scrapbooking once, but mine ended up looking kind of trashy. Yours looks so....nice. I guess I tend to over clutter things, so I'll stick to reading.
my daughter scrapbooks. I was there this w/e and she was cutting out stuff for her kids to make valentines for school.
I don't even have a place to set up and leave up my water colors -- so I get very discouraged with crafts.
You seem to be very industrious.
How fun! I do like to scrapbook but can't right now because of my handsy toddler and severe lack of room!
Do you save all the bits and pieces from a vacation to embellish your scrapbooks, Janis? I do. Mine I use with photo albums though. Don't do scrapbooks as such, just notes beside the photos. My geek squad friend does digital scrapbooks--very professional looking. There's a store in one of our malls that I love to look through because it has all this scrapbooking stuff--called Archives, I believe. Are you familiar?
When I get back into a books about dogs mood will have to check out Cowboy and Wills.
I usually curl up with a good book if Im not painting or listening to my music or going through my photo files..
