Fun Monday Dec 2008

Today's Fun Monday host is Ari_1965 the assignment is --- Tell us about your neighbors from Hell.

It's been a long time since I have had to deal with bad neighbors, the early 1980's to be exact. We built a house in a small community of 11 houses, each house had 1 acre of ground surrounding it. After one year of living there our "neighbors from Hell" moved in next door. At first they were friendly, they had two kids a boy and a girl, we had two girls, so they sometimes got together. One day my youngest daughter came home crying and said that the boy next door hit her. Well the way I was raised, boys were never allowed to hit a girl (I had three brothers). This called for a meeting with the Mom, after explaining to her that if her son had a problem with my daughter, to come and tell me and I would handle the matter and for him not to hit her again. This monster, I mean Mother, stood there and told me that her son would hit my daughter if she deserved it. I couldn't believe my ears, I said to her "does your husband hit you"? Yep you guessed it, she said "Yes, if I deserved it" I was stunned and just said I feel so sorry for you and walked away. My daughter was instructed to stay away from those kids next door. After that, those kids would stare at us when we were out in our yard, and if we looked their way , they would say"You got a problem", they would call our house and watch us run in to answer the phone and hang up. Our neighbor who lived across from us also had an incident, but this time it was with the mother. Did I tell you she had a lazy eye, you couldn't tell who she was looking at. Anyway, old bad eye got into a confrontation with my other neighbor and hit her over the head with a baseball bat. The other neighbor filed charges against her. When the trial came up, we went as character witnesses. Old bad eye was charged with assault and battery, had to pay a fine and got herself a record to follow her the rest of her life. Shouts of Joy came from all of us and we went out to celebrate (maybe too much, I had a hangover the next day). When this family moved out, a year after this happened, we sat in my yard and stared at them the entire time. It was sweet revenge!

That's a shocking neighbour from hell. I can't believe that poor woman would let her son hit your daughter. But it's easy to see where it comes from. Hope you have nice neighbours there now.

No wonder you celebrated when they left. I feel sorry for the way those children were being brought up!

Sounds a bit like my neighbour! She however, thus far thank goodness has kept her hands to herself. She just yells like a fishwife!

Mama Troll used to tell me the easiest way to ascertain if someone was White Trash was the habit of "staring".

Normal people just don't do that.

Sadly the boys were learning from their father that it was okay to hit girls/women. Wonder if he's still hitting as a grown man?
BTW, thanks for the bit of Vince today--he's the best!
