I never knew

I had no idea that Francis Scott Key was born in Maryland... this is just 20 miles from our home in Hanover Pa. We just happened to pass by while driving through the back roads of Taneytown Md. Sorry the sign is so blurred...my camera focused on the tree instead..and we were in motion also.

Francis Scott Key was the reason I was in band. I had a report due on him, and it was the first time I had not done my homework in my entire life....I was 11. I lied to the teacher and told her my parents wanted me to be in band. She sent me to the band director and he assigned me to clarinets... and told me I had to have one the next day. I went home and told my parents I had joined band and had to have a clarinet the next morning, so my dad called the man who had the music store, met him there and bought me a clarinet. I didn't tell them the real reason until I was grown. So, thank you, Francis Scott Key, for all those fun times I had in band playing the clarinet!

You got a useful drive-by shot even if the camera did not do as you wished. Very interesting to find this site so close to home.
