It looks like a peaceful place - too bad the sign and fence are necessary. We just had a story on the news about a local bridge that is getting a new "suicide fence" put up next week. Sigh.

ReplyDeleteSuch a shame they need that sign. Great capture.

ReplyDeleteThat is reality and this sign can be helpful but it's too sad to see it.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting view through the fence and I like it very, very much.
Greetings from Kaya.
We never know the sadness and desperation that many--even our close friends--feel. This sign is a reminder for all of us to pay attention and try to be there for those who need support.
ReplyDeletethere have been a number of such incidents on motorway bridges here over the years - wouldn't like to see too many notices like this - there are notices on our coastal piers though.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a suicide sign, but I suppose there are certain bridges conducive to that sorta thing. Nice view, though!
ReplyDeleteThe authorities play also suicide if you see the state the railing is in. Who get the blame when the whole construction collapse.
ReplyDeleteOh dear - a really useful fence here!
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of a suicide bridge I always think of The Golden Gate. It has a suicide sign, as well. Didn't know there was more than one.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Chesapeake. Haven't visited there for 15 years! I think we need to take another trip out East! Thanks for hosting Friday Fences.
ReplyDeleteoh that is really sad that they have to put a sign up....i hate that people get so low that they think suicide is the only way out...

ReplyDeletewhich reminds me...years ago, i was coming home from work, we lived in san diego at the time. there was a young woman threatening to jump off the overpass onto the freeway. i was close enough to the bridge to see her standing there. they had emergency personnel talking to her and traffic stopped. they finally talked her down. but it was scary to watch.
ReplyDeleteGreat pic using the bridge as framework for the town below.
ReplyDeleteYou would be really desperate to end your life if you made it over that fence. Life so precious. Never understood why someone would elect to end it.
ReplyDeleteA great view of the town below.
ReplyDeleteTHat is some fence and I think things happened there that they made it extra high.
ReplyDeleteInteresting photo -there must be more to the story here...
ReplyDeleteCool seeing the little town through the fence. I've never seen nor heard of a suicide sign. To bad they have to be put up.
