It's amazing what you can do with a Hydrangea when you give it the proper conditions! I planted
my first one last year...it is just starting to bloom...hope mine is multi colored like my DIL's above.
It's true about the acidity in the soil. We had a hydrangea for 15 years...it finally fell victim to the drought two years ago. We just couldn't keep it wet enough to withstand the Texas heat. Mine started off blue, and then turned pink. I was told by the man at the nursery that if I wanted to keep it blue, I needed to use a particular type of fertilizer to change the acidity in our soil here. I didn't care if it turned pink. I don't know HOW to get more than one color on one plant though. That's interesting!
I've heard if you push rusty nails into the soil around the bush, you will change the acidity of the soil and get different vibrant colors.
