    As hard is it is to see something that appears as gentle as a mourning dove be dinner for the hawk, it is true that nature has a way of balancing things, if we just stay out of the way. This is a wonderful closeup! And the quote is SO true!

    I watch the neighborhood loose cat stalking through the yard after birds early in the morning and want to warn them, but have to remind myself that this is nature for the cat to hunt its food. Your hawk photo illustrates even better that drive to survive--even in nature. So they come this close to your deck?

    Ah yes. I'm wondering Jan if you have a nasty Cooper's hawk here. They appear in my yard only during the winter, and Mourning doves are on their menu daily!
