Halloween Memories

Photos from the year 2007 n 2009

This weeks Fun Monday is all about Halloween. Let's celebrate Halloween and the pleasures of dressing up by sharing costumes. If you are going to a Halloween--or other costume--party, who would you like to be? I hear Lady Gaga is a front runner this year. Now don't hesitate to play because you're not partying this year. If you were going to dress up, who or what would you be? Or, if you want to share photos of your resident small goblins, that's great too!

Well to me Halloween is all about having fun.  I am not going to a costume party this year so I am sharing some past Halloween memories with you.  The township that I live in allows trick or treating on the tuesday before Halloween every year.  Our tradition is that all four of the grans and sometimes their friends come over our house, we eat a fast dinner, the kids get dressed and out they go to beg for the treats. They can be out from 6pm-8pm, then they come back to the house, dump their goodies on the floor for inspection, then proceed to trade candy with each other. Its always so much fun to see the excitment on the kids faces.. Our local fire department comes around on the big fire engine and hands out candy and the local police rides around and hands out glow sticks. Even if its raining the show still goes on. Nothing can stop these little goblins from getting their treats.  Our two oldest  grans are now 14 n 12, they plan on going out this year, but it may be the last year for the oldest one. At least the two youngest ones (6 & 3) have many more years for this fun time.
Thanks to our hostess Faye for giving us this challenge.  For more Fun Monday stories n photos go here!

Vacation Time Part 2

Last week Jer and I went to Orange Beach Al, for a commencement ceremony for him to receive his Masters Degree. This will be another blog coming soon.  For now I want to tell you about Chattanooga Tn. This was our first stop on our long drive and we wanted to take in some tourist spots.  The first stop was the Incline railroad, this takes you one mile straight up to the top of look out mountain. What a spectacular view we had.

We drove downtown to the river front area and fell in love with it!  It was such a beautiful setting right on the Tennessee river. The pedestrian bridge spans over the entire river and I believe its the longest in the USA There was so much for a family to do...the Aquarium, Discovery center and Performing arts center were all there  within a block.  The museum of American history was housed in three separate buildings.Take a ride on a river boat.  If you wanted a bite to eat or shop, it was just a short walk to the many restaurants and stores. We were so happy that we paid a visit to this very lovely town.

Old Barns

I see this barn everytime I go in to the next town over from me. I finally remembered to take my camera with me.   Years ago the farmers were paid to let companies advertise on the side of the barns.

Fun times in Orange Beach Alabama

My Hubs and I just got back from a fun 3 days in Orange beach Alabama.  Now being from the East Coast, My Beach experiences have been Ocean City Md.  Myrtle Beach SC. St. Simon's Island and Jekyll Island Ga. plus the beaches in Florida.  We were pleasantly surprised with this beautiful beach in Alabama. Being right on the Gulf of Mexico the water is a beautiful blue and the sand is pearly white.  The Florida line was just 20 minutes up the road, so we paid Perdido Key in Florida a visit also. The weather was a balmy 80 degrees with low humidity and sunny!  Friday afternoon they were having boat races in Orange beach so we got to see it all from our balcony at our hotel.  Would we go back???? You betcha we would!  If you all have never been,,,we highly recommend it!

Whats on your Fridge...FM

Our fun Monday challenge this week is...whats on your Fridge!!! show us and tell us about it!

I think I have a typical fridge...with family photos, dates of events and toys for toddlers. My three year old grand daughter loves playing with the magnet toy. I used to have one whole side of magnets that I have collected from places I have visited, but I just took them down, it was getting too cluttered looking.
come on over here to see more Fun Monday stories...Thanks Faye for hosting once again, your a Doll!
