Whats Your Favorite Show ?

FUN MONDAY

Hello everyone, Thank you all for playing today. Here is what I have to say about my favorite shows on TV. I am a sitcom kind of girl, I love to be entertained and laugh. I simply cannot wait until the fall premier of "The Office" I have been following this show since the very beginning. The cast of characters are so well suited, the humor is very dry and that is what appeals to me. Anyone who has ever worked in an office can relate to this show. The Boss, Michael Scott played by Steve Carrell thinks he is the coolest and funniest boss, which makes him intolerable to his staff and the rest of the company. He is very naive in many ways so that endears him to viewers.

Everybody loves Raymond is in reruns and I try to catch them when I can. The Barone family is dysfunction at its best. Great cast of characters and funny, funny story lines.

The King of Queens starring Kevin James , Leah Remini and Jerry Stiller is another show in syndication that I try to catch. Funny Funny FunnyI also look forward to Dancing with The Stars, So you think you can dance and American Idol.

Jer is a sports, action shows and history channel kind of guy. We spend a lot of evenings with him in the L.R and me in our B.R watching our favorites. All I can say is, thank goodness we have two TV's in the house. Did I mention I love watching Dr.Phil and Oprah too? Oh and Desperate Housewives and the Today show and HGTV....ok I'll stop!

Now go see what the rest of our tv viewers watch....scan down to see the list!

Who wants to host next week??? let me know and I will spread the word!

I'm a Lifelong Learner

FUN MONDAY
Faye is our gracious hostess this week and here is her fun challenge...........

--Do you still think of yourself as a student? A lifelong learner?--If so, what would you like to learn? Something job related to improve your work performance? Technology skills to keep up with the modern times? Personal financial management skills? Stress management strategies? Playing bridge? Belly dancing? Writing? Better blogging? Speaking another language? Car maintenance? DIY home improvements? You get the idea--the list of learning options for adults is endless.--Are you currently taking a class or online study? What is this experience like? What are you learning? --If not actually in a class, how do you learn something new? Tutorials on computer or TV? How to books? One on one with an instructor or coach? Practice on your own?

Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils."
— Louis-Hector Berlioz

Well Faye, I feel like your never to old to learn. Like my Hubby says.."If your not Growin' your Goin'. Sometimes It feels like I learn something new everyday. Now I am not talking about book learning...I am talking about life lessons. As far as school went... I was not the kid who loved going everyday. To read and comprehend was hard for me, I was and still am a hands on learner. An average student was I, maybe I could have been better if I applied myself, but I was more interested in having fun. My grades were just good enough to get me to the next level. I never failed though and graduated from high school when I was 17. College was never discussed in my family, so my siblings and I were never encouraged to further our education. The plan was...get your HS diploma and go out and work. That is what I did. Here I am many many years later and I am still learning from life. The answer to your "What would you still like to learn" question would have to be...To write better... Since I started this blog last year, something has awakened in me that I never knew existed. I like to write and express myself. My creative juices start to flow and I get excited. Just by starting this blog alone, I have learned so much about the computer and all it can do. Up until last year, I basically used the computer for just email. By blogging, it has also opened my eyes to the beauty around me, I am always looking for photo opps to blog about. I have always been a "shutter bug" but it was mostly photos of people . Now I see nature and all of its glory to photograph. My niece in-law nine acres teaches a photography class and when I can purchase a much better camera, I plan on taking her class. The real student in this family is my hubby Jer...he just finished his second Bachelor of Science (magnum Cum Laude) and is now pursuing his Masters degree. He is doing this for personal satisfaction and not job related, he has been retired for 10 years. Now go see what everyone else is learning click here. Thanks for hosting Faye.

Show us your Scars

Hi all, lil mouse here hosting again and this time I’m putting forth an extreme Fun Monday challenge. One totally unexpected and that will force you to put yourself out there. Then again, why are you blogging if not to challenge yourself? This week, I challenge you to show us your scars. Scars can be physical or emotional, they can be a reminder of something good or a warning against repeating past actions. They are often (like most experiences) great teachers. If it’s a physical scar, tell us how you got it, if you learned anything from the experience, and what you think of when you see it. If it’s an emotional scar, how did you come by it and what has it taught you?
I wanted to take a photo of my scar..but its on my knee and hard to get a good angle so I will just have to describe it and you can use your imagination. A long long time ago when I was a little girl of 6 my family went to visit my grandparents. They lived across the street from an elementary school that had a playground. My sister(age 8) and I went to play on the swings. We had the bright idea that I would sit on the swing and she would stand on the same swing and start swinging. In no time at all we were going very high, I got frightened and told her to slow down. As we were coming down, instead of my legs being held straight out, I had them bent under the swing. The seat was low and my knees started to drag on the gravel (that is what they used on playgrounds back then), by the time we finally stopped both of my knees were a bloody mess. Of course I cried because it hurt so bad and after all I was a little girl. My Mom cleaned my knees up and put bandages on them. In a few days I had big scabs and it took a while for them to fall off. When they did, I had this tiny scar that was round and it was black. It was either a cinder or dirt that got trapped under my skin. The years have faded it a lot but you can still see a faint dark mark. Every time I look at it I am reminded about the dangers of swings and how easy accidents can happen. When I take my grand kids to the playground, I am very careful to make sure the swings are high enough and that they hold on tight. So that is my one and only physical scar. Now if my hubby were writing this post he could go on and on because he has so many scars, I think he is accident prone.
Go take a look and see more about scars click here. Thanks for hosting this week Jill.

Whats Blooming in your Garden

FUN MONDAY

Our Friend karmyns dreamings is hosting this week and here is her challenge....

WHAT'S GROWING IN YOUR GARDEN? (or yard, or patio pot). Please post a picture.
Do you have a flower that is just blooming its little heart out? Maybe you have a prize pumpkin that is promising to be the belle of Halloween. I know that all my Southern Hemisphere friends are in the middle of winter - but they can find something growing, too!!! (it might be their waistline!).

This has been a wonderful summer for all the beautiful flowers. We have been fortunate to have plenty of rain and everything is so healthy looking and thriving. My coreospis has been blooming profusely since June.

The petunias planted in pots on my patio are going wild. They are so hearty and love the sun.

This potted plant on my front porch has not stopped blooming since I received it for Mothers day! (I don't know the name, if you do please tell me)

This Hibiscus is in my neighbors yard. I couldn't resist taking a photo ...., just look how big the blooms are, just beautiful!

So there you have it....now go see what the others have growing in their garden! Thanks for hosting Karmyn.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Do you ever look up in the sky and see a Jet plane speeding through the atmosphere and wonder...where its headed? Are you wishing you were also on that plane? If you had a choice of a free trip...where would you travel to and how would you get there??? What type of transportation would you choose?

Sweet Pa. Corn

As the saying goes..'.when the corns as high as an elephants eye, its time to pick it so come nigh". The corn in this part of the universe has been outstanding to say the least. We were getting local corn in the middle of July...that is very rare for this area in the northeast. The normal time for local corn is usually the very end of July..early August. This has been a perfect summer, with just enough rain for the crops to be plentiful.
Every ear of corn we have had so far has been so sweet. Looking forward to lots more this month. The farmers are counting their blessings for sure.

My Favorite Summer Dish

Sayre is our fun hostess this week and this is what she has to say.

What I want from you is a step-by-step guide (pictures encouraged) for making your favorite summertime dish. This can be an entree, a vegetable, a casserole, or a dessert. Hopefully it will be quick and easy so we can spend August playing more and cooking less
When it comes to summer, these two things come to mind...cucumbers and zucchini. There are so many ways you can prepare these two very versatile veggies. The cukes came from my one lone plant and the zucchini was bought at a road side stand. Next year I am having a bigger garden. I love making pickles, cucumber salad and zucchini pie and bread. Most of the time I make enough to give away. A loaf of zucchini bread or a jar of pickles make a very nice hostess gift. Here are two of my favorite recipes.

ZUCCHINI BREAD
(makes two loafs)
3 eggs ------ 3 cups flour
2 cups sugar ------ 2 cups grated zucchini ---peeled
1 cup oil ----- 1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla----- 1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
Mix all ingredients, grease and flour two loaf pans... pour equal amounts in both. Bake at 325 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes. Can also use mini loaf pans...makes 4-6
SWEET AN SOUR CUCUMBERS
2 Large cucumbers, peeled and thinly sliced
3 green onions, thinly sliced with 3 inches of green tops
2/3 cup rice vinegar
1/3 cup sugar
combine all ingredients; marinate for at least 1/2 to 1 hour. Serves 4
These are always a hit with friends and family. Now go see some more yummy dishes! click here. Thanks for hosting this week Sayre!
